Ok so I’ve been bursting at the seems wanting to give my side of what I thought about the Twilight Movie. I just saw the MTV person’s “New Moon” Wish list and thought I’d do the same with my post. First off let me just say this. I know it’s impossible to cram a 500 page book into a 2 hr movie.. On that note here we go…

First I want to say that overall I did love the movie, Chris even liked it so it must have been good. The movie did stay mostly with the book but there was a few things that I do wish they could have kept. So instead of me telling you what I liked I’m going to tell you what I didn’t like.

#1 When they introduced Jacob into the movie it was like he was instantly in love with Bella. This was fine but it was kinda overly obvious. In the book Jacob makes is obvious but not that obvious. I guess this kinda bothers me just because the first book isn’t really about Jacob and Bella, it took the focus off the main story.

#2 Bella’s room.. I know like all other Twilight fans I think that Bella’s room is a set for a lot of scenes throughout the whole series. Why was is so hard to not keep it the same, the old quilt, the lace curtains, the rocking chair? Something that did not have to be changed but was.

#3 Edward’s Character.. Don’t get me wrong the character was great but he was not the Edward that was in the book. His stiffness and cryptic tone bothered me. Edward laughed a lot in the book and was very fluid. To me in the movie Edward was hesitant, he paused a lot, was very quiet.. Where was the poetic dialect? Similar to what you would have heard at the turn of the century. Why was this not conveyed in the movie?

#4 The Meadow scene is one of my favorites from the book, and I really hate how the movie mucked it up. It’s a major scene in “New Moon” so why, why!? must they mess it up! It’s such a pivotal point in the book, where Bella and Edward really connect with each other… To me that scene would have changed the movie. It would have made it make more sense and it wouldn’t have made the weird sparkling effect they put on Edward not bother me so much..

#5 This is probably the last gripe I have. The characters didn’t interact much. You didn’t understand Edward and Bella’s connection. You didn’t see Bella and Alice become good friends, or see how Bella takes care of Charlie. Character development is a huge deal in a movie since you can’t see everything going on like in a book. They just need to give the Cullen’s a little more personality. Especially Alice she’s supposed to be happy and dancing around All the Cullen’s later have such major roles in the rest of the movies. They need to start character developing NOW!

So my advise for “New Moon” is this…

1. Character Development, make us fall in love with the characters and understand why they are with each other.. Why they are a family.. Why they are so important..

2. No Cheesy Special Effects, I know with it the wolves are huge but don’t make them look not wolf like, make them at least resemble a wolf.

3. Dramatic.. I want to see some drama!!! I want Bella to cry and I want to understand her depression, I want to see big drama from Edward when they are in Italy.. And the action scenes need to be HUGE!!

4. Don’t cut the cliff diving scene out!!

And there you have it those are my must haves for the sequel. What are yours?

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before how much I love to read. It’s definitely my way to relax and have some me time. I usually read muder mystery type stuff. James Patterson and Janet Evanovich are my most bought authors. Recently while in Kroger looking for a book I found “New Moon” by Stephenie Meyer. I first looked it because it was a nice thick book, I read really fast and have been known to finish shorter books in two days. So I figured that this one would at least get me through a week. I loved the book it was so interesting and the characters were awesome. While at Chris’ Parent’s house for Father’s Day Weekend his cousin was like “OH! your reading New Moon!” and we talked about it and she then asked me if I’d read the first one. “Great!” I thought to myself “I’m reading the middle book of three!” So after finishing “New Moon” I went and picked up “Twilight” the first book in the series. It was equally as good though I knew some of the stuff that was going to happen since I’d already read the second one. Then I picked up “Eclipse” and was blown away! I am now addicted to these books, the characters, the whole story! I now have vampire dreams almost every night thinking about these books. Now I have to wait for the fourth and final book in the series “Breaking Dawn” which comes out August 2nd. I’m more than excited, I can barely contain myself.

One night while looking at the Twilight Saga website looking for more information about the fourth and final book I came across something even more amazing than news about the fouth book. They are turning the first book “Twilight” into a movie! It’s due out on December 12, 2008. And even more exciting is that they already had a trailer! I was more excited than a kid on Christmas morning. I watched it, made Chris watch it, posted it on my Myspace. It was awesome!

So I’d been looking around the passed few weeks at production photos for the movie and was kinda disappointed I would say in the casting of Edward (Robert Pallinson, he was in the Harry Potter Movies). In the book he is described as model handsome. I’m not saying the guy they picked isn’t handsome but I was just slightly let down at the selection. Today I was reading on IMDB that the orginal guy they wanted to play the character (Henry Cavill) was working on another project and they also felt he looked to old to play a 17 year old. This guy was a much much much better choice and kinda is the way I had Edward pictured in my head. If you read (or have read) the books then you will understand the significance of this being kinda a big deal. Turning a book into a movie is going to be really hard to please the fans of the books, and character selection is cruisal! I’ll let you guys be the judge if you were being rescued by a model handsome vampire which would you pick?

Henry Cavill

Robert Pallinson

The other characters seem to fit nicely which those in the books. Kristen Stewart will be playing Bella, she was the little girl in Panic Room. Playing Carlisle is Patrick Facinelli who is married to Jennie Garth and best known by my TV and Movie knowledge as playing “Van” on the short lived (but awesome) TV series Fastlane. You can see the full cast line up and pictures here. Again I’m so excited for the new book and the movie that I can’t wait. Expect me to be one of the first in line for both of them! If you haven’t read these books yet, don’t walk, RUN to the nearest place books are sold and get them ALL. You will not be disappointed!
